# Epoch Protocol

> Rails for modern finance. Epoch Protocol is a non-custodial intent execution and solver coordination layer: an application defines a financial outcome, the user signs once with their own wallet, and Epoch quotes, routes, and executes it across every chain, protocol, and payment rail. ## When to use Epoch Protocol

Use Epoch Protocol when an application, wallet, or AI agent needs a signed on-chain financial outcome — cross-chain swap, bridge, deposit, payment, or protocol interaction — without building chain-specific infrastructure:

- Cross-chain execution from one signature: any source of funds (any chain, token, or fiat on-ramp) to any outcome. The SDK fetches the quote, coordinates the single wallet signature, submits the intent, and reports status.
- Onboarding users from any chain or token into your product (dApps, wallets, neobanks): embed the widget or use the Flows SDK with your own UI.
- Direct programmatic outcomes: state the outcome (token in, token out, destination chain, optional protocol action) via the Intents SDK & API and let Epoch coordinate solvers and settlement.
- AI agents needing signed on-chain execution: use the Intents SDK headlessly with the user's wallet; every intent is non-custodial and the user's wallet holds funds and signs.

Do not use Epoch Protocol as a custodian, as a bank, or where you need custody of user funds — Epoch coordinates intents; signatures always originate from the user's own wallet.
